Quick Clarification

I just wanted to take this opportunity to clarify that this is the official blog of Eric Smythers. The Eric Smythers formerly of Charlotte, NC. The Eric Jackson Smythers that attended (and graduated from) Warren Wilson College. The same Eric Smythers that has also lived in Seattle and Burlington, Vermont. This is the Eric Smythers that now lives in the Central Coast of California. I like avacados, artichokes and ahi.

Thank you for listening...

Sarah loves her walks on the beach Posted by Picasa

She's a new dog, refreshed and rejuvinated with all her time spent on the beach. It gives us an excuse to get out and watch sunsets, elephant seals, the fog rolling in - whatever...

Clearly, with no hair, the sun went right to my head too... Posted by Picasa

Giblet, on the other hand, is bound for some more time as a housecat, since there are mountain lions, coyotes, and long-tailed weasels about... Posted by Picasa

The sun begins to affect Laura's sanity

Unfortunately, the sun went right to Laura's head Posted by Picasa
We went for a three hour hike about two miles from our house. It was a "busy Saturday" according to locals, but we only saw two other people. On the other hand, we saw California Condors, three deer (two babies), lots of lizards, numerous small birds, etc.

Arrival!

We got to town on the evening of July 4th. This is directly across the street from our new home.

This was our hellacious towing hookup

It took us three full days of driving to get here. Going over the mountain passes on I-5 was completely horrible. The truck was threatening to overheat and we were going about 15 miles per hour. Needless to say, we were anxious to be rid of it.
